They made other people leaders to Support their team, and then remove them.
Hello everyone!

Here is a simple real-life example. Recently team battle has begun, our team is registered there, but I cannot summon teammates to play in this team battle. People would like to play if they would have known. Of course, not everyone, because everyone has different preferences, but there definitely would be enough those who would like to play. Is it good or bad?

What is the current limit exactly?

Have a good day!
This is beyond a bad decision, many teams out there like to host more simuls than the new limit of messages allows them to notify the team about.

Everyone who joins a team, if they can't handle the number of team messages can unsubscribe or leave the team so why decide to restrict the team itself on the number of messages that can be sent, this is illogical.

You are limiting the broader use of teams, destroying the use of my team entirely, a simul notification team, a team that makes up for your lack of the features we desire, the ability to notify people of simuls without having to look yourself.

We also like to do more simuls than the limit of the team messages and I'm sure I'm not the only team leader who finds this new limit disheartening for our continued play of Lichess.

I urge the Lichess team to do away with this new illogical MISTAKE that has been implemented.
Sorry but this is just a very poorly thought out knee jerk reaction.

If this system has been abused, then by all means sanction the abusers, and not the many team leaders as they describe above, who simply need to send messages to keep their teams functioning properly.

Does anyone think that actually qualifies as abuse ???

I think that is a very poor word to use when they are just trying to organise tournaments, simuls and so on, abuse would be using it for purposes such as being rude ,or advertising things outside of lichess.

If people do that..then fine deal with them, but don't punish honest members because of the actions of a few.

What is happening with lichess anyway ? loads of people sanctioned for "violating lichess rules"....it smells like daft bots being used to me.

Bots who cannot distinguish between an innocent matter, and a serious one, so they just ban/mute/identify people as "lawbreakers" anyway.

This place is becoming more and more Authoritarian based all the time which is very sad.

And as all for all members having equal access to all lichess features..well sadly that died a long time ago :(

It is very sad that principles such as this have been allowed to slide, and now we have "innocents" punished along with the guilty, as with hard working team leaders.

@thibault so do you mean a team gets to send 4 team messages per day?

That's literally what I said. "From now on, teams can send up to 4 PMs per day"

This has now been increased to 10 per day ??

I think that rather proves my point, a very poorly thought out knee jerk reaction

Perhaps in future you should ask members their thoughts before you act in such ways, and not have to pick up and then sort out the mess you have made afterwards ?
You are becoming like Erik and his "cohorts" on chess.com sadly :(
Some very very good reasons given here by a number of team leaders.

But do lichess actually listen, or do they just do what they want and ignore members ?
What is the advantage of limiting the sending of messages to team members? The team member who doesn't want to read the messages will unsubscribe from the messages, that's simple. Limiting the sending of messages is unnecessary and detrimental to team events.
Yes exactly, and they can also unsubscribe from all messages totally if they want to.

Its a rather stupid and ill thought out knee jerk reaction to a problem.

Lichess has also failed to consult members about this, save on some remote site called github..which appears to be for software developers ???

Why "punish" hard working team leaders for the sins of a number of people who abuse the system anyway ??

I have no doubt they are just hoping this will go away, and they are keeping their heads down because they have already had to change it more than once, and its embarassing...well sorry but it should be !
