Okay, I get that you are banning keyboard, but is this really necessary?

I joined a game and they didn't give me time to turn keyboard off.

I had no idea it was banned, and you guys let me lose 25 ELO (which is a lot at 2400 level).

I did not do anything wrong, if I knew keyboard was banned, I would have turned it off beforehand. You took away massive rating from me just for not knowing something that wasn't even publically announced!

That is even more unfair than lag!
Yaa it's wrong by lichess side, i suggest you to ask some lichess modas for this.

Yesterday, it was not banned. As I've said, I'm fine with the decision and will not use keyboard from now on. But losing the 25 points was unfair
Yesterday and years prior, this rule was written the same. If lag is unfair and cheating is unfair, what is fair?

This is not about whether keyboard is fair or deserved to be banned. As a matter of fact, it was legal until today, and is illegal now. Subtracting 25 points from my rating because I used keyboard in the past is not fair. I am now underrated and my opponent is overrated.

so OP is expected to keep up with rumours?

Edit: seems like what they could've done is roll it out slowly: cancel games, not penalise people to announce this for say a few months. then begin to penalise people this way. what's wrong with this?

i mean, a wild analogy, but consider you weren't allowed to type the letter 'x' in chat and doing so would cause you to lose your current or next game just because lichess said so on a whim. which of the 2 aforementioned options do you think is better?
also everyone merry christmas, happy holidays, and happy new year!
